Pinterest

Perhaps you have heard of this thing called Pinterest.  Besides reading blogs, this is what I do after Gus goes to bed.  Some people read a good book before bed....I read blogs and pin.

If you haven't heard of pinterest, you definitely need to check it out.  It is my new crazy obsession....much to my husbands dismay!  This site is essentially a social network to share ideas on EVERYTHING!  I have currently found 2000+ ideas to "pin" on my boards.  2000+ things that I want to try or I want to remember or that I want to share with someone else because they might like it.  At the rate I am going, I am going to end up on a special edition of the tv show, "Hoarders".  They will have "Hoarders: Pinterest Edition" just for me.  I cannot get enough of the ideas that are on there.  So many great ideas out there in the world and I just want to soak them all up!!  I have actually done quite a few of these already.  There are so many other things I plan to try this summer.

If you recall, one of my other favorite things to do is read blogs.  One of my favorites is the terpblog.  I have known this blogger since high school.  She is a great Thirty-One customer of mine and just recently allowed me to be part of her first blog give away.  Who doesn't love FREE Thirty-One stuff??  Anyway, the terpblog co-hosting a Pinterest Link Up.  So if you love blogs and love Pinterest like I do, you need to check this out. Lots of great bloggers and pinners!  Lots of great ideas!!

I may have an addiction....

So I came to the sudden realization today that I may have another addiction.  I previously wrote about my blog addiction.  I was willing to come to terms with that one and do something about it.  This one...I'm not so sure I can give it up.  Someone is going to have to try hard to convince me to give it up.  Let me just say, I have been addicted for years...even before it became popular again.  Those who know me well know that it is kinda my signature.  As I wandered around my house tonight (which still needs A LOT of unpacking and organizing) I started to notice my addiction a little bit more.

The dish set that I got for Christmas 2010!!

Keeps the stove top clean.

Coffee Mug...who doesn't love that it is orange?!?

My new wine glasses from Pampered Chef.

Joel and I solve all of our disagreements with this rule...."He can be right, but I will win."  This little magnet reminds him of that.  He better think twice about starting with me...unless he is prepared to lose. :)

Even bought a house with perfect wallpaper in the "kids" bathroom.  That is one room that will not be redecorated any time soon!

Thirty-One caters to my addiction with these patterns.

New slippers that my mom gave me this weekend.  So cozy!!

A new blanket that I bought for Gus' bedroom since his room has a similar pattern.

My pillowcase.  Yes, even my bedroom linens have it.

Towels in the master bathroom.

Wrapping paper for all occasions.  My husband will tell you that I am also addicted to buying wrapping paper.  He just might be right about that....

So I think it is official.  I have a serious addiction to polka dots.  And I KNOW that there are many more things in this house and in my classroom with polka dots.  I am an addict....but this addiction, I plan to keep!!

I will kick that intruder's arse....

Just wait...here comes another edition of, "Beth is crazy!"

Today seemed like the longest Friday of all time.  Long, crazy day with lots of student drama and discipline going on.  Not to mention followed by a cheer practice where the girls were simply stir crazy and unfocused and the coaches (myself being one of them) were getting very frustrated.  My friend, Diane, watched Gus for us today while I was at practice and Joel was helping to run a charity event.  After practice, Diane, Gus and I ran some errands together.  We finished up just in time for me to get Gus home for bedtime.

After wrestling with my 1 1/2 year old alligator to get him out of the carseat and he tried to slither out of my arms as we walked up to the house, I was finally able to let him run free once we walked through that front door.  I casually took off my coat as Gus ran around like a mad man and I walked into the kitchen to hang up my coat and.....BOOM!!!  There is was!  The door leading from the kitchen into the garage was wide...I mean WIDE open.  Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!!!!  (Okay....yes, I had some other choice words running through my head.)  I snatched Gus up, grabbed my cell phone and ran out to the neighbor's driveway as I called my husband.  (The neighbor is a police officer....I figured I could always have him come kick the intruder's arse if need be.)

I frantically called Joel to ask if he by chance left that door open.  His response, much to my dismay, "ya know....I think I might have.  I left in such a rush."  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?  How do I know for sure?  And why didn't I think to grab my coat?  I am freezing.  Should I go back in?  Maybe I should make Aaron go check it out first.  Should I call the cops?  Am I being ridiculous?  Am I overly paranoid?  Maybe I should be more concerned?  Many things went through my mind.  Oh!  And thank goodness I hadn't yet gotten Gus out of his coat.  He was warm and at this point playing in the snow at the neighbor's house.  After a lot of thought, we went back into the house.  I set Gus down and I grabbed the broom in the kitchen and went around the house with a broom in one hand and my phone in the other with it already dialed to 9-1-...just in case.  I kicked open every door, the shower curtain, looked under the bed and jumped in about in an effort to surprise the intruder and so that I could kick his/her arse with a broom.

Long story short....no intruder but my overactive imagination jumped into overdrive and I became a raving lunatic. But I still have my broom ready....just waiting for my husband, the door-leaver-opener, to arrive home.  He better start running.....

Ooo-la-la

Every time we have a break from school I have a new obsession.  Usually these obsessions include Sudoku, logic puzzles, making baby hair bows, making jewelry, making sparkly flip flops, the list goes on.  It seems that this summer I am obsessed with blogs.  Not only our own family blog, but everyone else's blogs.  I sit and read blogs late into the evening after Gus is in bed.  I stay up far past my bed time.  But hey--it's summertime...I can stay up as late as I want!  I love reading the different ways that people write.  Some are very proper in their writing and some are very casual.  It is almost as if some of them are just sitting next to me telling me a story.

I also love the multitude of topics that are discussed.  Today alone I read an announcement about a new pregnancy, the poop struggles of a three-year-old cancer patient, a family vacation, an adoption struggle, swim lessons and much more.  So many different things going on out there with the bloggers that I follow.

There are so many different designs that people use.  Some people use a very straight forward, simple design and color palette.  Others go a little crazy.  Much like the new look of our blog.  So I got a little sassy with it...I like it.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE polka dots.  I mean LOVE!! It is just one more of my obsessions.  My cheerleaders always make comments like, "of course...coach always has polka dots" or "of course our hairbows have polka dots...coach picked them."  Like I said...obsessed.  So it only makes sense that I would put polka dots here!

WOW! It's already after 10 pm...I have a lot of blogs to read yet tonight!
